how to wash makeup brushes quickly

In our daily routine, we use makeup brushes to apply blush, foundation, and concealer. However, dust and foundation can accumulate on the bristles of the brushes over time, which can ruin the makeup application. That’s why it is crucial to clean your brushes regularly, ideally once every one to two weeks.

Below are the types of makeup brushes and three ways to clean them as they are used for various purposes and cleaned differently:

  1.  Water washing: This method is best for brushes with less residue, such as loose powder and blush brushes.
  2. Dry cleaning: This method is recommended for brushes with less residue and some animal hair material brushes. Animal hair brushes are sensitive to washing, so they should only be dry cleaned.
  3. Friction washing: Use this method for brushes with more residue, such as foundation, concealer, lip, eyeshadow, and eyeliner brushes.

Steps to follow for washing with water

First, prepare a container and makeup brush cleaner by mixing water and makeup brush cleaner 1:1.

To clean your brush, dip only the bristles in water and hold the handle with your fingers. Rotate it gently until the water turns cloudy. Please note that soaking the entire brush in water can cause hair loss. Therefore, avoid submerging the brush mouth, as it can trap water inside.

Carry on pouring in water and continue to spin until the water is clean, followed by drying the excess water with a paper towel. Note: If the brush handle is a wooden handle, wipe the water off in time to avoid cracking after drying in the sun.

Dry cleaning

Prepare a sponge specifically for cleaning makeup brushes by simply rubbing it over the black sponge portion, clockwise.

The absorbent sponge in the center is used to wet the eyeshadow brush for easy application of eye makeup.

Friction washing

There is a Makeup Brush Cleaner Mat specially designed for makeup brushes, just pour the makeup brush cleaner onto the Brush Cleaner Mat, and then place the dampened bristles on the Brush Cleaner Mat and gently swirl them around until they make bubbles.

Repeat one or two times to clean the bristles in a cup filled with water.
