How to quickly clean a powder puff is undoubtedly the most concerning issue for makeup enthusiasts. It requires both thorough cleaning and protection of the puff’s material. During the cleaning process, it’s essential to know the material of the puff in hand, such as pure cotton, fluff, flock, non-latex, NBR, SBR, silicone, and others. Only by knowing these materials can we take targeted actions.

Cotton, flock, and fluff are natural materials used to make powder puffs. During the cleaning process, it is important to handle them gently to avoid applying excessive force, which could result in the fabric losing its elasticity or even cracking.

  1. Adjust the water tap to a moderate flow, then proceed to moisten the puff.
  2. Apply a moderate amount of facial cleanser onto the powder puff. Avoid rubbing it with your hands, as this can compromise the puff’s elasticity. Instead, place the puff on the palm of your hand and gently press it to squeeze out the stains. Then, rinse it thoroughly with water and use your palm to squeeze out the excess water.
  3. Wrap the puff with a clean tissue or disposable face towel, and press to absorb excess water.
  4. Finally, place the puff in a dry, well-ventilated area to air dry naturally.

Non latex puff  (NBR,SBR)

Non-latex puffs are usually made from synthetic rubber materials such as NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber) and SBR (styrene butadiene rubber).

It may be more prone to cracking compared to some other materials, especially when excessive force or detergents are used during cleaning which may lead to cracking. Therefore, special care needs to be taken when cleaning by handling the puff gently and avoiding excessive force to prolong its lifespan.

  1. Start by preparing a fresh-keeping bag, makeup remover or facial cleanser.
  2. Apply a suitable amount of makeup remover onto the puff, then place the powder puff into a fresh-keeping bag. Gently press the puff with your hands to squeeze out the foundation hidden inside. Be sure not to rub it with your hands, as this could cause the powder puff to crack.
  3. Wait for the makeup remover to dissolve the foundation on the powder puff. Then, rinse off the surface stains with clean water. Next, continue pressing with facial cleanser until foaming, then rinse with water repeatedly twice.
  4. With a clean dry towel or disposable washcloth, the surface of the puff moisture squeeze clean, this time do not squeeze too dry so easy to lead to puff cracked, and then placed in a ventilated place on the natural blow-drying.

Silicone puff

Silicone is a polymer compound with properties such as softness, durability, easy cleaning, and smooth surface, making the cleaning process very easy.

  1. Preparing facial cleanser.
  2. Apply facial cleanser evenly on the silicone powder puff, gently rub between your palms, then rinse with clean water.
  3. Just use a clean dry towel or disposable washcloth to dry the surface.
